A parent with dementia leaves home and gets lost, which is the fear that keeps distant families awake. Municipalities run registries that help police return a wandering person, and the care plan can add covered sensors and trackers. Locking a parent in is neither safe nor the answer. Register the parent and set up monitoring before it happens, and ask the support center what local schemes exist for their area.
